FINISHED: The Birdhouse

Here is the much anticipated third and final blog of #TheBirdhouse! We couldn’t be more excited to share these photos with everyone after six months of tearing this house apart inside and out. There will be continual blogs about more in-depth posts about Elevant Creative’s designs and more on the next projects. Mike Sulava brought tons of ideas to the table for this project and executed them like none other! In summary #TheBirdhouse only took 65 gallons of paint and 38,000 lbs of garbage!

1-14This is the herb garden we put in the backyard. The red rain barrel allows for water from the roof to water your herbs.

1-20The backyard used to be covered in foliage and rotten trees. After much help, it’s now a big useful backyard.

1-22The covered porch is the best place in the house to have coffee (that’s our opinion). The railing is cedar posts overlooking the backyard and herb garden. Complete with a fan, carpeted floor and an exposed grill spot.

2-1There used to be two closets in the entry so we converted one into a mud room.

4The completely re-done kitchen is one of the most drastic differences in the house. There’s many elements to take in from the exposed brick, wooden panels and farm sink.

4-6It’s a shame this used to be covered in plaster!

6The main floor plan change became the Master Suite. The old closet became the bathroom and the blank wall became shiplap and barn doors.

7-3Large laundry room in the basement with another barn door!

7-5We decided to get creative with exposed pipes and a drink bucket for a sink in the basement kitchenette.

7The Paneled Basement Wall includes a variety of Western PA timber including: Maple, Hemlock, Cedar and Hickory.

10-3There are three bedrooms each with a lot of storage and closet space.
